This is the same guitar and amp, with the MuRF set to a fast, percussive filtered pattern.

This clip is constructed entirely from two Kubik wavetable sequences.

RME
Fireface 800

ROLAND
V-PRO TD-20S

Web Clip 1:
This groove was created in real time, with 16th note quantization and no overdubbing. It was created using a customized kit, which includes a hip-hop bass drum placed on the bell of the ride cymbal, and African drums on the hi-hat. After a few bars, I overlay the groove onto a few factory kits so you can hear other sounds in the library.

SOUND DESIGN WORKSHOP
Convolution Reverb and Beyond
(Mac)
Web Clip 1:
This clip contains six sounds: the dry shakahuchi, the hall impulse response, the convolution of the two, the dry shakahuchi again, the cymbal crash, and the convolution of those two.

Web Clip 2:
This is a ZIP archive containing the convolution source files described in the article. All files are in AIFF format.

COVER STORY
Experimenting with SoundFonts

This example uses a modified version of the Polysynth sound from Sonic Implants’ 24 MB GM bank. A slow LFO was assigned to Filter Cutoff.

TC ELECTRONIC
PowerCore Compact 1.9.3
(Mac/Win)
Web Clip 1:
This piano-bass-percussion loop repeated four times has no processing on the first pass. Subsequent passes add Character processing to the bass, piano, and percussion in that order.

Web Clip 2:
Each track of this guitar, bass, and strings trio has been processed by different Filtroid presets. The two bar passage repeats four times, adding processing to a single track at each pass.
