IK Multimedia is shipping AmpliTube Metal guitar amp and effects-modeling software (Mac/Win; $269.99 for the full version or $229.99 for the crossgrade). Dedicated to the sound of heavy metal gear, the software offers 48 models of modern and vintage amps, cabinets, stompboxes, and rack effects.
AmpliTube Metal's collection of sounds spans the 1970s through today, and includes recreations of some rare and collectible pieces of gear. In all, there are 14 stompboxes, 5 amp models, 13 cabinets, 6 microphones, 9 rack effects, and a tuner. The models are based on the ProCo RAT, the Electro-Harmonix Big Muff, the Digitech Whammy, a number of vintage Boss effects, the Randall Warhead, the Peavey 5150, the Mesa/Boogie Triple Rectifier, and more.
In addition, AmpliTube Metal includes AmpliTube X-Gear for full integration with Powered by AmpliTube products. You also get 2 configurable rigs with up to 32 simultaneous effects, a digital tuner, and SpeedTrainer for playing along with recordings. AmpliTube Metal works both standalone and as a VST/AU/RTAS plug-in. It's compatible with Mac OS X (including Leopard) and Windows XP/Vista.
