Wallander Instruments has announced two brass/reed collections, Saxophones 1 ($399 Street) and 2 ($299 Street), which were designed to be downloaded easily onto your Wallander Instruments Visual Instrument (WIVI) player.
The Saxophones 1 collection contains 12 instruments: three each of baritone, tenor, alto, and soprano saxophone. Saxophones 2, on the other hand, expands the timbral range with 15 instruments: three each of bass, C melody, mezzo-soprano, C soprano, and sopranino saxophones.
WIVI instruments, unlike traditional sampled instruments, allow you to alter timbre and dynamics throughout the entire course of a note and provide a number of articulations. According to the manufacturer, WIVI solves many of the problems associated with sample-based instruments. Divisi is automatic, spatialization and environmental control are handled at the instrument level, no additional reverb is required, and because no samples are involved, CPU and hard disk requirements are minimal. WIVI (Mac/Win) is AU, RTAS, and VST capable.
