The Vienna Symphonic Library has announced a number of holiday sales and new releases. Through January 15, 2009, the Vienna Symphonic Library is offering its Vienna Instruments DVD Collections for 20 percent off the original price. Also, all Extended Libraries of the Vienna Special Edition DVD and Download Collections will be available at a 15 percent off discount. Current users who have registered both Vienna Special Edition and Special Edition PLUS collections (with their Standard and Extended Libraries) by January 15, 2009, will receive the Vienna Instruments Download Product Fanfare Trumpets for free.

Furthermore, the Vienna Symphonic Library has lowered its prices for Keyboard Vienna Instruments, is providing free registers for the Vienna Konzerthaus Organ, and is offering Vienna Instruments Collection Jazz Drums for free to those who purchase the audio plug-in bundle Vienna Suite.

The company's new download-only instruments (Mac/Win) are Bassoon 2 and Trumpet in Bb. The Bassoon 2, played by the Vienna Philharmonic's frequent first bassoonist Stepan Turnovsky, is a single instrument download product. Existing customers who will have registered (by January 15, 2009) the Vienna Instruments DVD collections Woodwinds I Standard Library, Woodwinds II Standard Library, and Special Woodwinds Standard Library, will receive Bassoon 2 for free. Likewise, those who register (by January 15, 2009) the Vienna Instruments DVD collections Brass I Standard Library, Brass II Standard Library, and Special Brass Standard Library, will be able to receive the new download instrument, Trumpet in Bb. This instrument is said to be a crossover instrument that delivers a classic European style, enhanced and expanded with more intense vibrato and brasher tones.
