U-he has announced the availability of the Zebra 2.2 (Mac/Win; $199) software synthesizer. With the update from version 2.1 to 2.2 comes compatibility with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard and Muse Research Receptor, faster preset loading, new factory presets by Howard Scarr, bug fixes, more user-friendly GUI, and more.
The update, which is available in AU and VST formats, is free for registered Zebra users. For more information, visit www.zebrasynth.com.
On a side note, U-he offers the Dinosaur Upgrade, a crossgrade special that allows you to "trade in" an analog synthesizer in exchange for $50 off the price of Zebra. But it's not how it sounds—to receive the discount, you simply send the company a photo of your old piece of gear with a U-he-provided sign that reads "Retired & Replaced By Zebra." Check out the amusing photo gallery.
