New from Spectrasonics is the Stylus RMX Xpanded (Mac/Win; $399) package, which includes Stylus RMX Realtime Groove Module virtual instrument software and five S.A.G.E. Xpander expansion libraries. According to the manufacturer, purchase of this package saves you approximately $400 off of the combined price of the individual titles.
The S.A.G.E. Xpander expansion libraries are Backbeat, Retro Funk, Metamorphosis, Burning Grooves, and Liquid Grooves. Each library features a different kind of groove or feel. Backbeat has live acoustic drum grooves, Retro Funk has vintage acoustic grooves, Burning Grooves has "aggressive" live drum grooves, Liquid Grooves has acoustic ethnic drum and percussion grooves, and Metamorphosis has remix grooves designed by producer Eric Persing.
With this package, you also get a Multi Library—which includes hundreds of Multi-groove patches—and a bonus section of grooves from Vocal Planet, Distorted Reality, and more. In sum, Stylus RMX Xpanded offers over 13 GB of grooves and sounds.
Stylus RMX is compatible with host sequencers such as Apple Logic, Digidesign Pro Tools, MOTU Digital Performer, Steinberg Cubase, Ableton Live, Cakewalk Sonar, and more.
