harpsichord

Modartt has released a physically modeled virtual copy of a Grimaldi harpsichord that dates back to 1697. According to the manufacturer, this short-scaled Italian instrument is said to have a crisp attack and a transparent tone, which is ideal for playing basso continuo or 17th and 18th century Italian and German solo repertoire. The Grimaldi harpsichord's two registers can be played separately or combined together. This virtual instrument (which is part of the KIViR project that aims to create virtual copies of historical keyboard instruments) is available as a free add-on for all Pianoteq customers.

Modartt has also updated Pianoteq to version 2.3. The Grimaldi add-on instrument requires you to have this new version, so be sure to get the update when you download the Grimaldi. Both are available at pianoteq.com.
