Vienna Symphonic Library Releases Appassionata Strings

The Vienna Symphonic Library team has released the new Vienna Instruments collection, Appassionata Strings (Mac/Win), which features sounds from large ensembles of violins, violas, cellos, and basses. The 18 GB collection includes a variety of sustained, legato, and vibrato styles, as well as the many types of articulations typical of stringed instruments—accents, spiccato, staccato, trills, runs, and more. Also included is Vienna’s “out of tune samples” where various players of the ensemble carefully correct their intonation as the tone progresses. Mirroring what actually happens in live orchestral performances, this technique helps heighten realism and musical expression.

Priced according to the type of library purchased, the Appassionata Strings Standard Library is $595 ($645 after price increase), Extended is $535 ($575 after price increase), and Full is $1,130 ($1,220 after price increase). But act quickly—prices will increase on February 15, 2007!
