UF’s Big Brother

The UF series is certainly impressive, but the VX series ups the ante with additional features—the most notable being a backlit alphanumeric display, numeric keypad, ribbon controller, four MIDI Outs, 12 programmable trigger pads with Velocity sensitivity, and nine motorized 60 mm faders, an industry first for any controller keyboard. You also get nine user-definable endless encoder knobs and eight potentiometers. A built-in USB audio interface provides two ¼-inch audio inputs, two ¼-inch audio outputs, two ¼-inch headphone jacks with a master volume control, a gain control for the mic/line input, and three USB ports. Finally, the VX keyboards have a dedicated U-CTRL button, which makes the device compatible with the Mackie Control Universal protocol.

CME’s VX controllers are available in four models: the 49-key VX5 ($699.99), 61-key VX6 ($799.99), 76-key VX7 ($899.99), and 88-key VX8 ($999.99). The VX8 has an 88-key weighted hammer-action keyboard, while the others have semiweighted action.
