Doepfer has announced a MIDI and CV/Gate version of its A-198 Trautonium/Ribbon Controller. Instead of the usual A-198 module, a small standalone box with MIDI and analog outputs (CV1, CV2, Gate) is used to interface the ribbon controller with MIDI- or CV/Gate-compatible equipment.
The two sensors of the manual (position and pressure) can be assigned to different MIDI functions, such as Note On, Note Off, Pitch Bend, Velocity, and Aftertouch. The MIDI channel can be selected for each parameter and a variety of operational modes are available (for example, quantizing and arpeggio modes and gate legato/retrigger). Several user presets will be available to store complete settings of the device. The controller will be available in May, 2004.
Doepfer also has announced a number of new analog synth modules for its A-100 line. These include the A-107 Multitype Morphing Filter, the A-101-3 Modular Vactrol 12-Stage Phase Shifter, the A-137 Voltage Controlled Waveform Multiplier, and the A-101-1 Vactrol Steiner Filter, among many others. For more information about Doepfer modules, visit its U.S. distributor, Sonic Highway (http://www.sonichighway.com).
