Discrete Drums has announced the release of Earthbeat, an 8-CD sample set featuring integrated multitrack drum and percussion performances. The drums and percussion are on as many as 16 discrete tracks, which allows for a wide variety of processing and mixing possibilities. The percussion tracks cover a wide range of "world" textures and styles.

The drums and percussion tracks fit together and offer a diverse range of choices. Drummer Greg Morrow and percussionist Eric Darken were recorded in Nashville's Sound Kitchen by engineer Steve Marcantonio. Producer Rick DiFonzo chose Nashville because of the "amazing level of musicianship and the sheer quality of the studios."

The 8-CD set includes six discs of 24-bit, 44.1 multitrack WAV files, one audio CD for quick reference, and one 24-bit CD of single WAV samples. The package will retail for $199. A 16-bit stereo WAV version is available for $99, and the single-sample disc is also available separately for $49. The set is expected to begin shipping on February 19. In the meantime, you can hear audio clips at the Discrete Drums Web site. (http://www.discretedrums.com)
