TerraTec Producer is now shipping the Axon AX 50 USB ($549), a guitar-to-MIDI-controller based on the Axon AX 100 MK II. According to the manufacturer, the Axon AX 50 USB is ideal for stringed-instrument players who want to integrate MIDI equipment into their computer-based studios.
The Axon AX 50 USB offers a USB port with four MIDI ports, which allows you to control an external instrument and up to four other software sound machines on your computer; a 32-bit RISC processor for immediate translation of sounds; and a MIDI sound generator that lets you plug in your instrument and transform its sound to that of any other instrument.
The unit also includes 128 programmable presets, a software editor (Mac/Win), support for fret-, string- and pick-splitting (into up to 12 play zones), and the Wave XTable VI virtual sound module.
