MXL Microphones is shipping the V88 ($349) studio microphone, a large diaphragm, pressure-gradient, condenser microphone with balanced, transformerless output. According to the manufacturer, this microphone is ideal for recording vocals and other acoustic sound sources.

The V88 is internally wired with Mogami cable and has a large 32 mm capsule with a gold-sputtered diaphragm. It also features a cardioid polar pattern, low noise, a high sound pressure level rating, and a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz. On the outside, the microphone is nickel plated and stands less than six inches tall. The V88 ships with a protective aluminum flight case and a shockmount adapter.
