AKG announced a host of new microphones at Winter NAMM 2007, including the limited-edition C 414 LTD large-diaphragm condenser mic.

Released as part of the company's 60th-anniversary celebration, the new C 414 features hand-selected capsules and components, five switchable polar patterns, three bass-rolloff filters, and dual-color LEDs. In addition to a nickel finish and brass grille reminiscent of the earliest C 414 models, the anniversary version includes a transformerless output stage, a black carrying case, a windscreen, a spider suspension, a pop filter, and (of course) a certificate of authenticity.

Also new to the AKG fold are the C 5 and D 5 vocal mics. The C 5 condenser includes 24-carat-gold sputtered housing to protect the capsule, as well as a removable Presence Boost adapter. The D 5 dynamic offers AKG's Laminate Varimotion diaphragm technology for smoother frequency response. Both mics feature a steel-wire mesh grille cap, zinc-alloy die-cast housing, an integrated shock absorption system, a gold-plated XLR out, a vinyl case, and a stand adapter.

The company also announced a new line of five miniature specialized-use models. The MicroMic series comprises the C 516 for accordion and instrument amps; the C 518 for drums and percussion; the C 519 for brass and woodwinds; the C 520 condenser mic; and the C 555 headset mic.

Lastly, AKG introduced the IVM 4 wireless IEM system, which includes the SST 4 stereo transmitter with an integrated dbx compressor, the SPR 4 stereo body-pack receiver, and a pair of IP 2 headphones. The transmitter features RH power output up to 100 mW and can accommodate a max of 14 channels in each 30 MHz band. The receiver includes Auto Setup and Environmental Scan options, and boasts an operating time of seven hours. The entire system is expandable with additional AKG accessories.
