Once thought of as a toy, the Stylophone ($157) - and its uniquely electronic sound - has been used on records by David Bowie, Kraftwerk, Orbital, Rick Wakeman, and the instrument's staunchest proponent, Australia's Rolf Harris. The Stylophone's miniature 20-note keyboard is played with a stylus, and the instrument's organlike tone is vintage all the way. Although the instrument hasn't been made in more than 20 years, the folks at Stylophones.com have mint-condition, boxed units available through their Web site.
