PreSonus Audio Electronics is shipping the FireStudio Tube 16 x 10 professional FireWire recording system. The 24-bit, 96 kHz FireStudio Tube comes with two SuperChannels, a number of inputs and outputs, a DSP mixer/router, digital converters, the ProPak Software Suite, and more.

The front panel has two SuperChannels, which offer Class A vacuum tube microphone and instrument preamplifiers; preamp controls; analog limiters; and LED metering. The tube preamplifiers use a high-gain, military-grade 12AX7 tube, providing maximum gain, low noise, and high headroom. Meanwhile, the Neutrik combo connectors allow for both XLR microphone input and high-impedance instrument input. There are also preamp controls (including preamp gain and tube drive) and an 80 Hz highpass filter to remove room rumble and unwanted lows. The Limiter features a VCA-based RMS and peak detection circuit, allowing it to catch fast transients and eliminate the possibility of clipping during recording. LED metering displays preamp input and limiter gain reduction for the two tube SuperChannels.

The rear panel features 16 analog inputs (including the 2 tube SuperChannels), 8 Class A XMAX microphone preamplifiers, 6 balanced TRS line inputs, eight balanced TRS outputs, a headphone output, and MIDI I/O. Furthermore, the FireStudio Tube includes a 16 x 10 FireControl mixer/router, which delivers up to five zero-latency custom monitor mixes.

Lastly, the FireStudio Tube offers A/D/A converters with a dynamic range of over 114 dB; synchronization using JetPLL jitter reduction technology; and the ProPak Software Suite (Steinberg Cubase LE 4, plus third party plug-ins, loops, samples, and virtual instruments).
