photos of IK Multimedia products announced at AES 2007

At the 123rd AES Convention last week, IK Multimedia introduced the new ARC (Advanced Room Correction) System, AmpliTube Metal, and AmpliTube X-GEAR. The company also announced that the StompIO USB floor controller and audio interface will be shipping soon.

Touted as the first acoustic room correction system in a DAW plug-in, the ARC System combines a professionally calibrated microphone, standalone software that captures sound information and calculates proper room correction, and a multiplatform plug-in. Furthermore, the ARC features Audyssey MultEQ technology, which measures acoustical information throughout the listening area in your studio.

AmpliTube Metal is a plug-in dedicated entirely to heavy-metal gear with an arsenal of 36 modern and vintage amps and stomp box models spanning from the late 70s through the 90s. With this plug-in, you'll get 7 distortion pedals, plus 5 other metal stompboxes, 4 amp heads, and 8 cabinets, for 32 high-gain amp combinations.

AmpliTube X-GEAR (eXpandable Guitar Effects & Amp Rig) is a software shell-host that allows you to open and mix—in standalone and plug-in mode—any current and future “Powered by AmpliTube” product.

The StompIO USB floor controller and audio interface, will begin shipping in November, 2007. According to IK, the StompIO offers full control over the five current “Powered by AmpliTube” software/plug-ins (AmpliTube 2, AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix, Ampeg SVX, AmpliTube Metal, and AmpliTube 2 Live), with the same feeling of a traditional hardware floor processor.

With the StompIO, you can access thousands of amp combinations and hundreds of effects with fully selectable and configurable stompboxes, amp-heads, cabinets, mics, and rack effects—which can then be used as standalone software for live play or integrated as a plug-in with your DAW.
