New from TC Electronic is the Digital Konnekt x32 ($1,745). This digital patchbay, format converter, and FireWire audio interface is designed to integrate digital outboard effects units and keyboards with DAW-based studios.
As a standalone format converter and patchbay, the Digital Konnekt x32 includes eight channels each of AES/EBU, S/PDIF and TOS, and ADAT (up to 96 kHz SMUX), as well as Word Clock I/O. Any input format can be converted into either of the other formats and be aligned to sample rates ranging from 44.1 to 192 kHz. The unit allows sample rate conversion on up to four separate stereo inputs at once.
The Digital Konnekt x32 also functions as a computer interface with two FireWire connections streaming 16 channels of audio to and from the computer. The audio interface has a ¼-inch balanced stereo analog output and headphones for monitoring.
Accessed from within a DAW, the included Integrator plug-in enables you to use hardware processor effects as an insert or an effect send on any track or on the master output of the host application. Integrator also controls routing, levels, and latency compensation of external effects processing equipment attached to the Digital Konnekt x32.
Extra features include complete front panel patchbay configuration, Jitter Elimination Technology, and a front-panel lock to prevent unintended button pushes.
TC Electronic expects to ship the Digital Konnekt x32 in July, 2007. For more information, click here.
