SM Pro Audio has unveiled the Stage Buddy ($995), an expandable monitoring control system with onboard EQ, signal limiting, and reverb. In its simplest form, the system consists of one master unit and four remote Stage Buddy units, which can be connected either directly to the master or daisy-chained to each other using standard CAT5 network cables. Bidirectional audio transmission and power is supplied to each remote unit directly from the master unit.
The master unit is a 1U, 19-inch, rack-mountable hardware chassis that houses both the main audio connections for the system as well as eight CAT5 distribution outlets for connection to the remote units.
Each Stage Buddy system has one master unit and four remote units. Additional remote units are available for $200 each.
