Tascam announced a number of interesting items at the Winter NAMM show in Anaheim last week. Among them are the 2488 (Mac/Win), a 24-track personal digital studio priced below $1,500. The 2488 offers 24-bit, 44.1 kHz resolution and features eight inputs (including four phantom powered XLR jacks), a 36-channel mixer, 3-band EQ on 24 of the channels, a 64-voice General MIDI module, a USB 2.0 port, and a built-in CD-RW drive.

Tascam also announced Gigastudio 3.0 (Win), which supports ReWire, VST plug-ins, and 24-bit, 96 kHz audio. In addition, polyphony is limited only by your computer, and version 3.0 includes real-time convolution processing. For more information, visit the Tascam Web site. (http://www.www.tascam.com)
