DG Software has announced MagicScore Maestro 3.7 (Win), a music notation application with editing capabilities and an internal spell-checker. You can enter notes with the virtual keyboard, an external MIDI device, or by hand with an extended set of musical symbols. The program comes with a virtual piano and virtual fingerboard for six- and seven-string guitars. It lets you create custom symbols, terms, and chords for compositions requiring non-standard solutions, and you can bind comments, links, and other appearance elements to parts of the score. MagicScore Maestro can read and write data to and from MIDI, as well as save data in a variety of formats, including as graphic files (BMP, JPEG, GIF, WMF are supported).

MagicScore Maestro 3.7 costs $69 and is distributed electronically over the Internet. A simplified version of the program, MagicScore Classic, is available for $39.95. A free demo version is available at www.musicaleditor.com.
