Sibelius has announced Sibelius First (Mac/Win; $129), a new notation and composition tool.
Powered by Sibelius 5, Sibelius First features a simple user interface; composition and arrangement tools for up to 12 staves of music; input via MIDI keyboard, MIDI guitar, computer keyboard, or computer mouse; Dynamic Scoring, which automatically updates instrumental parts as you work on the full score; the ability to switch back and forth from guitar tab to notation; and built-in general MIDI sounds.
Sibelius First also allows you to export finished scores and burn them to a CD; scan printed sheet music and edit or transpose it within the program; and post, publish, and share scores online. To learn more, visit sibelius.com.
