Radial Engineering Announces Three New Products

Radial Engineering has announced three new products: the JDI Duplex ($350) stereo direct box, the ProD2 ($149) passive stereo direct box, and the SGI Studio Guitar Interface ($179), which allows a guitar signal to travel from the control room across balanced studio wiring to an amplifier as far as 500 feet away, while retaining the natural tone of the guitar.

The upgraded JDI Duplex stereo direct box has -10 dB RCA connectors and +4 dB XLR inputs. The device is equipped with two Jensen Audio transformers, and Radial says the frequency response is flat from 10 Hz to 40 kHz, with virtually no phase distortion and greater than 90 dB of common-mode noise rejection. The input panel has a pair of 1/4-inch and RCA inputs and through-puts. The Merge function gives you a passive mix to convert the In/Through routing into a stereo-to-mono mix. Each channel is outfitted with a 10 kHz lowpass filter to eliminate high-frequency system noise, and a 15 dB pad. A switch on each channel allows you to select the XLR male input, which introduces a 20 dB pad to allow high output +4 dB line-level devices to interface into snake systems and splitters without requiring an external attenuator. The rear panel features XLR inputs and outputs along with polarity reverse and ground lift switches.

The ProD2 stereo passive direct box has two discrete channels, with standard high-impedance 1/4-inch inputs and through-puts, as well as -15 dB input pads and ground-lift switches for each channel. The balanced output is 600 Ohm, and all of the switches are recessed to protect against damage. Radial says the frequency response is linear from 20 Hz to 18 kHz.

The Radial SGI Studio Guitar Interface lets you send a guitar signal from the control room across balanced studio wiring to an amplifier that is 500 feet away, while retaining the natural tone of the guitar.
