PreSonus Audio Electronics has announced the FireStudio Tube, a 24-bit, 96 kHz FireWire recording system. The front panel of the FireStudio Tube features two SuperChannels with Class A vacuum tube microphone and instrument preamplifiers, analog limiters, Neutrik combo connectors for both XLR microphone input and high-gain instrument input, controls for preamp gain and tube drive, an 80 Hz highpass filter, and LED metering.
The unit’s Limiter has a VCA-based RMS and peak detection circuit that, according to the manufacturer, catches the fastest transients and eliminates the possibility of clipping during recording.
The FireStudio Tube offers 16 analog inputs—2 tube SuperChannels, 8 Class A XMAX microphone preamplifiers, and 6 balanced TRS line inputs on the rear panel. Outputs include eight balanced TRS outputs and the company's headphone output. The rear panel also has MIDI I/O.
In addition, the FireStudio Tube includes PreSonus’ 16x10 FireControl mixer/router,
digital converters, JetPLL Sync jitter reduction technology, and the ProPak Software Suite (which includes Steinberg Cubase LE and more). Further details about the FireStudio Tube are available at www.presonus.com.
