Korg is shipping the Pitchblack tuner ($150), a compact, chromatic pedalboard-ready tuner. It's packaged in rugged die-cast aluminum, so it is lightweight yet sturdy. The size of a compact effect unit, the Pitchblack features a large LED display and 100 percent true bypass, which allows the tone to remain intact and uncolored no matter how it is used. The tuner has a 9V DC output jack and has tuning accuracy of plus or minus 1 cent. In addition, the Pitchblack is supported by four different tuning modes (Meter, Full Strobe, Half Strobe, and Mirror).
Meter mode is the same thing as a needle-style meter. In Full Strobe mode, on the other hand, the LED meter stops streaming and both tuning guide LEDs light up when the correct pitch is achieved. In Half Strobe mode, the LEDs flow to the right of center if the instrument is sharp and to the left of center if it is flat. In Mirror mode, a combination of LEDs indicate how close or far a note is to the correct pitch. The unit also offers a detection range from E0 (20.60 Hz) to C8 (4186 Hz) and adjustable calibration from 436–445 Hz. The Pitchblack comes with an extended three year warranty.
