Hosa Technology has announced the Cue 5 ($899 per pair), an all-digital monitoring system that features Binary Drive.

The Cue 5 offers a 5.25-inch LF transducer, 1.5-inch silk-dome tweeters with no intermodulation distortion, and acceptance of 24-bit, 96 kHz signals directly via optical or coaxial S/PDIF inputs. It comes with bundled control software (Mac/Win) for tailoring the Cue 5's sound stage.

Binary Drive is an all-digital signal path with integrated Class-D amplification. This technology enables a digital source signal to remain entirely in the digital domain from the input until it reaches the transducers. It also eliminates the preamp digital-to-analog converter as well as the electronic frequency crossover found in most biamplified designs.

The system has a frequency response of 65 Hz to 20 kHz, and has optical and coaxial digital inputs, and balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analog inputs.

Hosa expects to ship the Cue 5 monitoring system in the summer of 2007. For more information, visit www.hosatech.com.
