Focusrite Announces Liquid Mix

Focusrite has announced Liquid Mix, a hardware device, with a plug-in front-end, that includes onboard DSP and can host 32 EQs and 32 compressors simultaneously. Each of the 32 channels provides compressor and EQ emulations selected from a pool of high-quality vintage and modern classics. Forty compressors and twenty EQs are available out of the box, with an expansion library available online. Each channel appears as a separate VST/AU/RTAS effect within your sequencer, and it will work with all major applications.

Liquid Mix uses the same Dynamic Convolution process as Focusrite's Liquid Channel. Liquid Mix's DSP is housed in a desktop controller and connects to the computer via FireWire, which also provides bus power. You can control each channel from the hardware unit or from within the sequencer.

An optional expansion card (sold separately) is available, allowing you to increase the number of available channels at higher sample rates. Focusrite says the card is quick and easy to install and fits neatly into the underside of the unit.

The Mac version of Liquid Mix is targeted to ship during the second quarter of 2006. The Windows version is expected to follow. For more information, visit Focusrite.com.
