Digidesign has announced Pro Tools 7 (Mac/Win), which features expanded MIDI and audio recording and editing capabilities, greater mixing power, and improved ease of use. The new software will be available for Pro Tools|HD, Pro Tools LE, and Pro Tools M-Powered systems.

Pro Tools 7 software is a cross-platform release, supporting Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) and Windows XP computers. New features include support for REX and Acid files, and new optimizations in the host-processing engine that boosts RTAS plug-in counts.

Anyone who purchased a new Pro Tools|HD, Pro Tools LE, or an upgrade to Pro Tools TDM 6.9.x or Pro Tools LE 6.9x software, from an authorized dealer on or after September 1, 2005, is automatically eligible for a free upgrade to the corresponding version of Pro Tools 7 software. Current Pro Tools M-Powered customers are eligible for a free update to Pro Tools M-Powered 7 software. Complete upgrade information will be available when Pro Tools 7 software ships.

In addition, Digidesign has introduced two new Pro Tools 7 Software Upgrade Plus options, available for Pro Tools|HD and Pro Tools LE systems, that enable existing customers to upgrade to Pro Tools 7 software and receive two additional plug-ins. The Upgrade Plus options are available only until December 20, 2005.

The standard upgrade price for Pro Tools HD 7 is $175 and Pro Tools LE 7 is $75. The Upgrade PLUS HD option is $245, which lets you receive authorizations for any two of the following plug-ins: DINR, ReVibe, Pultec Bundle, Slightly Rude Compressor, Smack!, or Synchronic.

The Pro Tools LE 7 Upgrade Plus is $99 and lets you choose from any two of the following plug-ins: Smack!, Slightly Rude Compressor, Synchronic, Pultec Bundle, or DINR LE. For more information, visit Digidesign online.
