Audio AG is shipping the RME DMC-842 multichannel digital microphone controller ($3,999).
The DMC-842 serves as an interface, a power supply, and a control device for digital microphones under the official AES42 standard. The unit features operation in Mode 1 (for asynchronous operation) and Mode 2 (for synchronized operation), both of which allow control data to be sent to the microphones. In addition, the DMC-842 provides analog line level outputs and built-in sample rate converters.
A Windows-based software application comes with the DMC-842; it communicates with the unit via MIDI and allows you to adjust microphone parameters. The mic controller also supports the transfer of MIDI data over MADI and AES/EBU-signals.
