At AES last week, Apogee Electronics Corporation unveiled Ensemble Mobile, a battery-operated version of the multichannel digital audio interface designed for use with Apple Mac computers. Ensemble features control functions that are built directly into Apple’s Logic Pro, Soundtrack Pro, and GarageBand software, creating a portable, fully integrated hardware and software system for audio production on a Mac.

Ensemble Mobile offers 36 channels of simultaneous audio, including 8 channels of Apogee’s A/D and D/A conversion, 4 digitally controlled 75 dB mic preamps, 8 channels of ADAT I/O, 2 channels of S/PDIF coaxial and optical I/O, and FireWire connectivity to and from the computer. Ensemble Mobile also includes such Apogee features as “SoftLimit,” “UV22HR,” and “Intelliclock.”
