Alpha-Core Inc. has introduced the second generation of its BP (Balanced Power) System. It's now available in three sizes, rated for 300 VA ($285), 600 VA ($355), and 1000 VA ($433). Installed between the wall outlet and audio or video components, the Goertz BP Power System eliminates electronic noise and hum induced through the unbalanced power line.
The transformer is potted within epoxy compound inside a round, steel enclosure with an outside finish of scratch-resistant, off-white, powder-coated enamel. The Goertz Power System has a 2-foot cord with a North American-style 3-prong plug for the wall outlet. At the output side, the 2-foot cord with a grounded receptacle may be connected to a power strip as needed.
The outside diameter of the housing ranges from 5 1/8 inches in diameter for the 300 VA, 6 5/8 inches for the 600 VA, to 8 1/4 inches for the 1000 VA, with a height of 2 3/4 inches for the two smaller models and 3.0 inches for the largest model. The weight is 8 lbs, 13 lbs, and 20 lbs respectively.
The Goertz Power System is supplied with a bracket for easy single-screw wall mounting. The unit can also be installed on a component or rack- mount base-plate using the threaded insert on its rear surface.
