Synchro Arts Limited has announced VocALign Pro (Mac/Win; $695), an AudioSuite plug-in for Pro Tools that can automatically edit one audio signal to match the timing patterns of another audio signal. According to the manufacturer, the new features will include increased alignment accuracy, using a new and more sophisticated pattern recognition algorithm, and user-definable Sync Points, which target audio alignment at specified pairs of points in the two signals. The Pro version will also support a maximum signal length of 5 minutes (it was previously 2 minutes).

The user can now mark sections of the Replacement (Dub) signal that are not to be time-compressed or expanded during alignment. The audio preview options in VocALign allow you to listen to sections or the entire signal before and after alignment, individually or together. The update also includes an improved TimeMod time compression/expansion algorithm, which is optimized for single-pitch signals but maintains the option to use an alternative TimeMod algorithm for more complex signals.
