Steinberg has announced Cubase 4 (Mac/Win; $999) and Cubase Studio 4 (Mac/Win; $499).

Cubase 4 features the SoundFrame universal sound manager; 66 plug-ins, including 33 new VST3 plug-ins; 4 new virtual instruments with over 1,000 sounds; the Virtual Control Room with multiple monitor mixes and talkback; a redesigned user interface; and improved score and notation functions.

Cubase Studio 4 offers SoundFrame; 2 new virtual instruments with over 350 sounds; 47 plug-ins including 25 new VST3 plug-ins; notation and score printing; and the full extended mixer from Cubase 4.

Both Cubase 4 and Cubase Studio 4 will ship in October, 2006.
