Sonoma Wire Works Announces RiffWorks

Sonoma Wire Works has announced RiffWorks (Win), a recording app for guitar players, and Sonoma 7 VST (Win; $149), which includes seven VST effects plug-ins. RiffWorks creates tracks automatically while recording, and you can record multiple takes or layer parts without hitting pause. Real-time, tempo-matched backing tracks can be added using InstantDrummer, a REX player, a ReWire mixer, or a metronome. InstantDrummer offers full-kit studio drum recordings with a range of Velocities and adjustable variation with no programming necessary. The REX player can open loop files in REX and REX2 format. The ReWire mixer supports up to four ReWire-capable applications. Seven studio-quality effects can be added per layer, including auto-wah, multi-band compression, modulation, delay, reverb, and parametric EQ. Songs created in RiffWorks can be mixed to WAV or OGG files.

RiffWorks is part of the Line 6 GuitarPort RiffTracker, available from Line 6 dealers. A special Add-On version of GuitarPort RiffTracker will be available for those who already own Line 6 GuitarPort, PodXT, PodXT Live, or PodXT Pro.

Sonoma 7 VST combines seven effects into one plug-in, and each effect can be enabled or disabled individually. Attaq is an auto-wah filter effect. Tripwire is a 3-band compressor with distortion. Tempest combines eight modulation effects in one unit, with selectable wave shapes and the ability to sync to tempo.

4X4 is a multi-tap delay, with the ability to sync to tempo. Supertanker is a reverb, and Stamina is an optical-style compressor. No Equal is a parametric EQ described as having "traditional British" controls. A demo version of Sonoma 7 VST is available for download.
