Roland Introduces the CM-30 Cube Monitor

Roland has introduced the CM-30 Cube Monitor ($249) and his shipping the DR-880. Intended for studio and stage use, the 30W monitor combines a 6.5-inch coaxial 2-way speaker with a stereo preamp and three input channels (XLR mic/line input, two RCA inputs, and a stereo mini-plug input). This lets you use five inputs simultaneously (four stereo and one mono input), and the CM-30 includes a Stereo Link mode, so you can use two CM-30s for true stereo operation.

The CM-30 also boasts a 2-band equalizer, with the EQ knobs located on the front panel. Other handy features include a stereo headphone jack and mic stand adaptor.

The DR-880 is a drum-machine-style synth that combines drum, percussion, and bass sounds from Roland’s SRX library with a collection of original waveforms. The sounds can be customized with independent compressors and EQs for the kick and snare, and a compressor and selection of COSM amp models for the bass.

The DR-880 has three EZ Compose buttons on the front panel, which let you create original patterns without resorting to note-by-note programming. Patterns can be taken deeper with the Groove Modify feature, where various groove and triplet feels can be applied. Ghost notes can also be added automatically. Also included is an instrument input jack for guitar and bass (which can be processed through COSM drive and amp models and multi-effects), a S/PDIF digital output, and a USB port for MIDI interfacing and SMF Data import.
