Red Microphones has introduced the Type A ($1,345), a tube microphone based on a system of interchangeable capsules (from $249 to $849 each). To celebrate the release of this new mic, Red will include a free R7 capsule ($650 value) to customers who purchase the mic by September 31, 2006.

According to the manufacturer, the Type A vacuum tube microphone system combines low noise and transient response along with a choice of nine different interchangeable capsules. The bayonet-mount capsules can be changed quickly for a variety of sounds and pickup patterns without having to shut off the power supply.

The mic comes with a custom-built flight case, Red's high-definition tube mic cable, a shock mount, and the PowerStream power supply, which not only insures stable performance but has a soft-start feature that maximizes tube life and minimizes startup time.

For a limited time, purchase the new Type A along with any one of the R0-R7 capsules and get a R7 capsule for free. Complete your purchase by September 31, 2006, send in the proof of purchase along with the Type A introductory offer redemption coupon, and Red will send the R7 capsule to you directly.

For information on the Type A and the free R7 capsule introductory offer, visit www.redmic.com/r7offer.
