Propellerhead Software has announced Reason 3 (Mac/Win). The update, which includes a new module called the Combinator, is focused toward onstage use. The Combinator allows users to build chains of Reason devices—instruments, effects, sequences and save them as a Combi patch.

Other new features include an expanded sound bank with a variety of multi-sampled instruments and Combi patches; a new browser with the ability to do a text search across your entire sound library, organize your sounds in favorite folders, and audition all samples and patches via MIDI; and a mastering suite with a 4-band parametric and shelving EQ, a stereo processor, a compressor, and a miximizer with a look-ahead limiter. The company adds that Reason 3 supports most major control surfaces, including ones with motorized faders and controller displays.

The update is expected to ship in early 2005, and an upgrade discount will be available for current Reason owners. For more information, visit the Propellerhead Web site.
