Fire away with the V-Fire (Mac/Win; $299) computer recording system, now shipping from PreSonus Audio. The V-Fire allows you to convert Roland’s R-BUS digital audio format to FireWire, thus providing a multichannel computer interface for Roland products equipped with R-BUS output.

The V-Fire features two R-BUS ports and two FireWire ports, allowing 16 channels of digital audio to stream at a sample rate up to 24-bit/96 kHz. The unit is also equipped with R-BUS 1, R-BUS 2, and master sync LED indicators. It ships with a software control panel that lets you select sample rate (44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz, and 96 kHz), latency, buffer size, and clock source.
