Peavey Introduces FX Series Mixing Consoles

Peavey introduced the FX Series mixing consoles, which includes the rack-mountable 16-channel 16FX, the 24-channel 24FX, and the 32-channel 32FX. The mixers feature Silencer mic preamps, dual digital effects processors, and a USB port. According to Peavey, the mic preamps offer high gain with low noise and distortion (.0007% THD).

The USB port lets you stream digital audio directly to a computer or flash drive with built-in MP3 compression. Users can save to a flash drive using USB port A, or use both USB ports to send the stereo output to a computer or hard disk for recording. With this feature, you can compress a live performance or rehearsal directly to the MP3 format.

The mixers offer four pre-fader aux sends per channel as well as two post-fader aux send for adding effects. The dual digital effects processors allow you to use multiple effects simultaneously, and the effects are assignable to any channel using aux channels 5 and 6. The onboard effects include reverb, delay, compression, de-essing, chorus, and expansion/gating.

The FX Series mixers let you edit effects and includes a library for each effect. There are two output processors operable in three modes—L/R stereo, L/R mono, and L-mains/R-subwoofer with crossover—as well as additional digital processing such as delay, limiting, and a 1/3-octave graphic or 7-band parametric EQ.

The mixers also include 3-band parametric EQ with mid sweep, 80 Hz low-cut filters, and insert points on all channels; four subgroups with insert points; and a headphone output. The 24FX and 32FX models have universal-voltage, switch-mode power supplies (operable between 100 and 240 volts) and BNC lamp outputs. On all models, the last two channels have stereo 1/4-inch and XLR inputs with separate gain control, allowing you to use a microphone and CD simultaneously without giving up a channel. The stereo input can be assigned directly to the left/right outputs.
