NUSofting Releases Groove Analogizer

NUSofting has released Groove Analogizer version 1.0 (Win; $29), a VST plug-in that acts, according to the manufacturer, like an "audio controlled drum synthesizer:" It is triggered by an audio signal, rather than by a MIDI message. Groove Analogizer has three oscillators that can be triggered and shaped by the audio input. A trigger can be any mono or stereo percussive sound or another VST instrument.

For each of the three generators you can choose left, right, or left-and-right input. The bandpass filter allows you to select which frequency range of the audio source will be used for triggering, so you can separate high, mid, and low tones in the audio input, allowing you to isolate different trigger patterns from a complex audio source. Groove Analogizer also includes a Pre-Listening feature, so that you can monitor which part of the source is selected as a trigger. The Sensitivity control allows you to select the loudest triggers filtered by the bandpass, letting you include or avoid ghost notes.

Sound Controls for each generator include Release time, covering amplitude and pitch envelope time; Bending, for positive or negative pitch envelope amount; Offset, to set the pitch base; and Timbre, which ranges from a pure tone to noise, with an FM option and Overtone mode.

The plug-in also includes an internal effects send and stereo delay, panning controls, and a wet/dry balance control. For more information, click here.
