M-Audio Ships Torq Xponent

M-Audio is shipping the Torq Xponent (Mac/Win; $749.95) integrated hardware/software DJ performance and production system. Torq Xponent is both a MIDI control surface for Torq DJ software and a four-output USB audio interface, including two stereo RCA outputs and a standard ¼-inch headphone output with cueing.

According to the manufacturer, the unit’s mixer section allows you to deliver a DJ performance with the same feel and response as a standard hardware mixer. For DJ CD player-style control, Xponent includes two touch-sensitive scratch wheels for scratching, speeding up, and slowing down the playback of digital files. The Xponent also adds 64 assignable backlit buttons (including Play, Cue, Seek, Loop, Key, and Sync controls), two volume sliders, 8 assignable knobs for effect control, and two pitch sliders. The touchpad/assignable X/Y controller allows for command over the mouse or the effects in Torq.

Torq DJ software is designed to work with Xponent, with every Xponent control pre-mapped to its corresponding Torq function. With the software, you can cue, beat-match, and mix all digital audio file formats, as well as locate and catalog digital song files into a searchable database on your computer’s hard drive.
