M-Audio has announced the MidAir line of wireless USB MIDI controllers and interfaces, which feature wireless technology from Frontier Design Group. The line includes the MidAir 25 ($249.95) and MidAir 37 ($299.95) controllers.

The MidAir 25 has 25 Velocity-sensitive keys in a wireless chassis. The MidAir 25 and the included MidAir receiver are 2.4 GHz wireless devices, with an effective range of 30 feet with the same response and low latency as wired controllers, according to M-Audio. The controller includes eight MIDI-assignable knobs, modulation and pitch bend wheels, an assignable sustain button, and a pedal input. The 37-key MidAir 37 includes all of the features of the MidAir 25 and adds nine assignable faders.

The MidAir receiver also functions as a standard USB MIDI interface and is a class-compliant device—no drivers are required. Both controllers can be powered with either the included 9V DC power adapter or with batteries.
