Korg ToneWorks Introduces AX3000G

Korg ToneWorks has introduced the AX3000G Modeling Signal Processor ($450), which integrates the company's REMS (Resonant Electronic Modeling System) technology with performance and studio-oriented features. The AX3000G combines signal and effects processing with amp and speaker cabinet modeling. A total of 72 amp, cabinet, and effects processor models are available, including 16 types of drive. The amp models range from vintage to high-gain.

The device offers eleven types of modeled pre-effects, 16 cabinets, 11 modulation effects, 11 delays, 11 reverb effects, as well as Noise Reduction for the high-gain settings. The guitar sound itself can be processed with pickup, acoustic body, and guitar-top modeling effects. Thirty-two factory presets are included, with space for 96 user presets.

The effects range from chorus, delay, and reverb, to new effects such as Filtron and guitar synthesizer modeling. Up to seven effects can be used at once. The AX3000G also provides send/return jacks. The expression pedal, with 8-point LED indicator, can be used in a variety of ways, from standard volume and wah-wah control functions to effects parameter control.

The new Expression Step Sequencer (ESS) automatically controls most effect parameters in a fixed or random step function. Users can assign up to eight steps of effect parameter values in the step sequencer, and specify one of seven ways in which the sequencer will play back these steps, including Forward, Backward, Alternate, and Random.

A 4-position amp/line selector maximizes the AX3000G’s output for use with various open-backed combo amplifiers, an amp head/4x12 cabinet combination, or a mixer/recorder.

Additional features include an auto-chromatic tuner, S/PDIF digital output, a Key Lock function for preventing accidental control changes, an Aux in, and MIDI In and Out for editing and storing original sounds on a computer using the free AX3000G Sound Editor software (Mac/Win).
