Korg has announced the Legacy Collection Digital Edition (Mac/Win; $199.99), which offers a software version of the M1 and brings the Wavestation up to version 1.5, and the MDE-X multi-effects collection up to version 1.2.
The sound engine of the M1 is available as an 8-part multitimbral virtual instrument. It has been updated with new features, including a resonant filter and dual insert effects. In addition to offering the PCM, Program, and Combination data of the M1, as well as all of the data from the 19 optional PCM/Program cards, new drum sounds have been added, which gives you over 2,700 presets.
The Korg Wavestation, which was introduced as a virtual synth in the original Legacy Collection, has been updated to version 1.5. It now includes all of the PCM and Program data from the original Wavestation, WavestationSR, and all six of its optional cards, providing 1,400 presets and sounds.
The MDE-X suite of effects from the original Legacy Collection has been updated to version 1.2, adding RTAS support for use within Digidesign Pro Tools systems.
All three elements of the Korg Legacy Collection Digital Edition support RTAS, VST, and Audio Units plug-in formats. The M1 and Wavestation 1.5 can also operate as stand-alone instruments, and each instrument provides up to 256 notes of polyphony (depending on your host computer). US owners of the original Legacy Collection can receive the new version at a special Preferred Owner price of $99. The upgrade is available exclusively from www.korg.com/gear/info.asp?A_PROD_NO=Legacy.
