Elemental Audio Systems has announced InspectorXL (Mac/Win; $219; $89 introductory price until September 30, 2005), a suite of six audio analysis plug-ins. InspectorXL supports RTAS, VST, and Audio Unit formats.

The six InspectorXL plug-ins include spectrum analyzers, phase scopes, a balance meter, a correlation meter, stereo image mid-side meters, and peak and RMS level meters (including K-system and IEC Digital PPM support).

You can choose from one of InspectorXL's three spectrum analyzers. Level meters are included in both vertical and horizontal configurations. They support common standards and can be customized. Each InspectorXL plug-in offers configuration options to control ballistics, viewing preferences, and the specific analysis data provided.

InspectorXL features include a Hidden Clip Detector for catching past incidents of clipping that are undetectable by traditional means, configurable Alarm Severities and Alarm Groups, the ability to save spectral snapshots for later recall and comparison, clipping and over tracking, integrated load and save, and support for sample rates up to 192 kHz. A demo is available online at ElementalAudio.com.
