New from VirSyn is VTAPE (Mac/Win; 99 Euro), aka the Analog Tape Suite. Based on the sound of analog tape machines, VTAPE is a set of two plug-ins called Saturator and Delay. Saturator features the recording and playback sounds of an analog tape mastering machine, whereas Delay offers Saturator's sound combined with a step sequencer-like tapped delay engine.
Saturator also features tape saturation, compression, and hiss; an equalizer; aliasing-free distortion; no latency; and a simple user interface. Likewise, Delay features tempo-synced delay with up to 32 taps, a stereo rotation effect, a Tap Pad for tempo tapping, a loop filter (with low, mid, and high settings), real-time parameter tweaking, no latency, and a simple user interface.
VTAPE is available in VST 2.4, AU, and RTAS formats. And through November 30, 2007, VTAPE can be purchased for 99 Euro instead of 169 Euro.
At VirSyn's Web site, you can download a fully functional but time-limited demo version and hear sound demos of the VTAPE plug-ins.
