Internet music software and publishing company Recordare has released version 4 of its Dolet plug-in for MakeMusic Finale.

Dolet 4 for Finale (Mac/Win; $149.95) reads and writes MusicXML 2.0 files for "universal translation" between music notation programs. It includes batch translation features to automate the process of moving digital sheet music files from one program to another. The plug-in supports Finale 2000 to 2008 on Windows and Finale 2004 to 2008 on Mac OS X.

While Finale 2008 can read MusicXML 2.0 files, Dolet 4 for Finale can write MusicXML files that include the new 2.0 features for file compression, multimedia support, and improved music formatting.

The plug-in is available from the Recordare store. Upgrades from Dolet 3 for Finale are available for $99.95.
