Image Line Software has announced Gross Beat (Win; $99), a new VST and FL Studio effect. Gross Beat is a time manipulation tool designed for repetition and scratching effects. Through the end of 2008, Gross Beat will be included for free with every Image Line order of $99 and higher.
According to the manufacturer, Gross Beat stores audio in a 2-bar rolling buffer controlled by 36 time and 36 volume mapping envelopes, for easy beat-synced glitch, stutter, repeat, scratching,and gating effects. The mapping envelopes are pre-assigned to MIDI keys and can be switched live from a controller keyboard. Changes can also be automated.
The effect features an adaptive "sinc interpolation" algorithm that maintains clear audio quality of processed audio. In addition, Gross Beat includes smoothing attack compensation, which minimizes clicks caused by discontinuities in volume when playback jumps between locations in the 2-bar audio buffer.
It's compatible with the formats FL Studio plug-in, and VSTi 2.4 (Windows only). For more information, please visit image-line.com.
