eRacks Open Source Systems has announced eRacks/Studio ($1,350 and up), a Linux-based digital audio workstation. eRacks/Studio arrives fully installed and configured with a suite of open source applications for sound editing, recording, playback, sampling, signal processing, sequencing, MIDI, musical typesetting, and more. The operating system and all included applications are open source, meaning that there are no software license fees, updates are free, and community support is available online.
You can customize the hardware configuration by rackmounting it or putting it in a desktop chassis or a media chassis. The default model includes a 24-bit, 96 kHz digital audio card with S/PDIF digital I/O and 36-bit embedded digital signal processing.
