Allen & Heath mixer

Allen & Heath has expanded its Xone DJ range with the new Xone:42, a 4-channel DJ mixer with USB audio interface.

The Xone:42 features four dual-input stereo channels (two phono/line and two line/line), all of which have a +6 dB to "total kill" 3-band EQ, a 9-segment 3-color bar meter, gain control, and 60 mm VCA faders with illuminated x/y crossfader selection. In addition, each channel has Xone’s Voltage Control Filter via illuminated assignment switches with controls for selectable filter type, resonance, and frequency.

Something unique to this mixer is the X-FX system, which allows you to interface an external effects processor. One knob controls the proportion of the channel signal sent to the effects unit, and then the affected signal is either returned to the main mix or is routed through the filter.

The USB audio interface can be used to play back music files and to record mixes from the Xone:42; when used with certain software, it can also be used as as a digital DJ effects unit that can be patched into the X-FX system. The USB input combines with an XLR microphone input, providing an additional channel with 2-band EQ and rotary level control.

The Xone:42 also has a 45 mm VCA crossfader with curve control, and a monitoring section with split cue control, mix to cue, two headphone outputs (1/4-inch and 3.5 mm), booth output, and balanced main mix outputs on XLR.
